Back up and running. Great! Happy New Year to you too Frank.

With due respect to you and your colleagues, I have to say it's disturbing and even embarrassing to learn that some are already trying to figure out how to oust Council President Ludeman. This is poor sportsmanship and disrespectful to the process and to the man.

Give Rob a chance to demonstrate his worthiness of the position and don't pursue a change unless he fails. (Please note that disagreement with his agenda would not qualify as a failure. If that were the case, the divided Dem party should be classified a failure too.)

I believe Rob will bring a fresh resolve to a stale body that is more political than productive. Give the man a chance and spare our city (and yourselves) another black eye.

Please offer your unfiltered position on this.

Thanks RJ - glad to have a Republican posting here, and I encourage more to simply send me an email at to register on the blog. comments & questions just like last year - with none of the anonymous baloney.

A lot of handwringing over the council presidency vote. Glad to have missed the meeting on Monday were the revote idea originated. Sure, I'd prefer to be setting council's agenda rather than my GOP colleague. But Democrats split horribly - we even had an officer of the county Democratic party twisting arms to vote Republican. Disgraceful.

At this point I can't predict what will happen next Tuesday.

That said, I have always worked well Rob. The "revote idea" didn't start with me, and I've done nothing to fuel it.

I appreciate that you've worked well with Rob, and that you've not fueled the call for a quick change.

I ask you to see if from this perspective: Consider what's best for the City of Toledo. You were not elected to advance the power of the Democratic Party. If your party's agenda is benefitcial to the community, it will prevail anyway.

Rob's election to President of Council was much less a victory for the Republican party than it was a percieved defeat for the Democratic Party. Now some want to recall the vote. Give Rob some room to prove himself. If you have any respect for the man you will see the bigger picture.

Caught in between are we citizens. We care little for the partisanship, it's the leadership we need. This will be a defining moment for you, and I am eager to see integrity win the day.

Thanks Frank, things are a bit hectic right now but wanted to thank you for adding me.

I'm also glad to read what you wrote, it's too bad that the whole President of Council vote ended up causing even more dissention.

I'm curious as to your feeling on the new GM deal.

Just a few more questions for now, can I blog on LCS and/or Toledo Talk that you are again blogging and what people need to do or would you prefer that people that visit discover it on their own?I didn't want to post about it without asking first.

Do you have any ground rules set as far as content since the way it's set up anyone who is a member could post blog articles. I'm not sure if there is a way within blogger to set it so that people can comment only or if you wanted other people to start posting articles. Since I am on a few other team blogs there usually is a set of standards by the admin as far as theme or content.

So much to catch up on but I'm seeing precious little here. What are you going to do on Tuesday? Will you be a leader and respect the election of Council President Ludeman, or will you take the low road and torpedo him? Will the real Frank Szollosi please stand up? Your character will be tested this week and those of us with confidence in Rob will be watching you.

Tomorrow will be much less interesting than expected, RJ - relax.

Not sure if this is something you want to comment on, but I'd be interested in your impressions of Paul Hackett last night.

It seems the Blade and I focused on different parts of his speech.

It was a great group of people last night, I'm glad I could be there and it was nice to have finally met you in person.

Great coverage BTW, Lisa. It is always important to get a variety of perspectives.

I just joined the board and I look forward to some thoughtful conversations here.

I am curious, Frank - it looks like the invitees have posting privileges. Are there particular themes you would like to posters to concentrate on?
