Carty & Noe! Did I say lunch?

Carty bought Noe's breakfast. Injured workers bought Noe's lunch. Facts back up my claim that Carty was warming up his Noe connections, even as The Blade was exposing Noe's activities. Why is it important? Carty claims to be a Democrat, survey's say he has all this support from union households. I bet there are a lot of injured workers who'd like their breakfast back from Tom Noe, and would be sorry that Carty chose to serve Noe breakfast instead.

Finkbeiner GETS A TASTE OF EXECUTIVE SUPPORT

Former Toledo Mayor Carty Finkbeiner, who has been testing union and Democratic Party support for a possible mayoral run in November, yesterday reached out to sample support in the business community.

The former mayor invited area executives, entrepreneurs, and political supporters to a private breakfast meeting at Cousino's Navy Bistro at The Docks in International Park ...........

Among those in attendance at the bagels-and-juice affair were ..... ; Tom Noe, owner of Vintage Coin & Collectibles and chairman of the Bush re-election campaign in northwest Ohio

Carty's campaign finance report (soon to be posted here) demonstrates that FINKBEINER FOR MAYOR '05 paid for the breakfast. Carty was raising and spending money while an on-air commentator on WTVG-TV 13 during their newscasts and on his political news show - deceiving Toledo every step of the way. He also paid for a worthless "mail back" poll to test his divisive themes earlier this spring. When someone rigs the rules of a party, covers town all spring shaking hands, assembles weekly meetings, raises and spends money from a mayoral campaign committee, does a poll, sends letters and is openly and privately critical of the incumbent - he's running for office, which is what Carty did for months before his "official" announcement. Don't let him buffalo you.

Why would Carty kiss Noe's butt? Next week Finkbeiner holds a fundraiser with all of Noe's old GOP buddies, thats why. Perhaps these guys are telling Carty to do what he can to drive away a great union jobs company like Costco from Westgate, because Carty is certainly trying. When good Democrats started criticizing Tom Noe and Republicans over the Bureau of Workers Comp allegations in early April, sticking up for Ohio's injured workers, (my first comment in The Blade, April 5) Carty was kissing Noe's rear end - as mentioned earlier here, Carty even did so openly on his tv show.

Answer the question Carty, why would you seek the support of Tom Noe?

Mr. Szollosi, find something useful and productive to do, would you please? That's what I am paying you to do after all as a city councilperson.

I don't support Carty, and I couldn't care less if he bought Noe a dinner and a show. Do you really think that buying someone lunch makes them a co-conspirator? After all, you were Carty's former campaign manager. Does that make you guilty too?

Move on. You're making yourself and your pal Jack look bad by slinging mud.

It's funny that Toledoenne would say this about Frank.

For those of you who do not know this poster, she is the 'darling' of Bob Frantz and has been posting her right-wing Christian 'stuff' on his website and blog for many months.

What is more interesting is that she criticizes Frank for posting what appeared in the Blade, but never criticizes the garbage that Bob Frantz posts on his blog.

Yesterday's 'Frantz Rantz' was his third bashing of Cindy Sheehan. Toledoenne- don't you think that your buddy and political soul mate Bob Frantz ought to find something useful and productive to do?

Toledoenne- your criticism of Frank fits you to a T. You are so much a right-wing Christian neocon that even Dwight Eisenhower looks pink to you.

You have 'excused' Bush's war in Iraq. You've excused his rape of the environment, his tax cuts for the rich, his ignoring of the plight of the poor, and his disregard for the working union families of America.

Now are you are excusing Tom Noe from his stealing from Ohio's middle class workers?

You toe the typical Republican mark: shallow, deceptive, con artist, and willing to play both sides for political advantage.

And by the way, I suspect that your hate for Jack Ford is a reflection of the same hate that Bob Frantz has for Ja-Fo [Jack Ford.] Do you support Frantz's race-card politicking that he displays on his blog?

Or are you 'holier than thou?'

Cindy Sheehan bashing? Relevance?

LD, you fail to see past your red hot hatred to even begin to comprehend my post.

Did anyone else read that I was scolding Frank for bashing Carty? No, didn't think so.

I'll make it easy for you (after all, you are a liberal and you probably do need the affirmative action loop for this). The criticism is for the attempt to make a criminal out of man because lunch for a man accused (not convicted) of criminal activity.
Sounds like Communist Soviet Republic justice to me.

And now, I will be accused of supporting Tom Noe for not condemning him also (even though I don't know the man, don't know the details of the scandal, nor give a rat's azz either).

Liberal-Dem,

If you have a point, make it. Are you capable anything besides name-calling?

Also, I wonder---
Frank,

Why is it wrong to campaign before the "official announcement"?

If a canidate announce his intentions first, then figures out what to do and how to do it, wouldn't you call him unprepared?

Decyphering the logic in this post is making my head hurt. Noe attended a Finkbeiner fundraiser in April, making Carty somehow culpable in the Coingate scandal? It really didn't take long for Ford to abandon that Clean Campaign pledge.

Look, I respect what you're doing Frank, it takes a lot of effort to put up with our nonstop complaining, but for the love of God, don't let Ford's inept campaign management drag you down with him.

what everyone is missing re. Charlatan Finkbiener and his decption about running for Mayor, all the time he was raising thousands of dollars and holding weekly meetings with his campaign staff various labor leaders etc, and lying to his employer about his political plans. He should have been up front with both the public and TV13. But what else would anyone who really knows Charlatan Finkbiener expect.

While I don't think that Carty's breakfast with Noe will amount to much, it is fair for Frank to bring it up.

What crosses the line is when people try to link Noe the Likely Criminal with Carty, instead of the former Noe the Local Kingmaker.

Carty is running as a closet Republican this year, and his seemingly chummy relationship with Noe is fair game for commentary.

In addition, Carty has shown in the past that his loyalty is only to himself, shedding parties and ideology as often as does a rattlesnake his skin.

Perhaps this is also a fitting metaphor...

I agree with historymike,

Nor is it uncommon for some candidates to get support from the other side. Look at New York City. Whoever ends up being elected Mayor is the mayor for the whole city not just democrats so reaching out to them to test support is what most people would do.

Carty is such a fraud. He's been so ever since I met him back in 1975. He was a Republican then and, as he was running for Congress, he realized that being a Republican was most probably a lost cause. So, he instructed his campaign helpers to tell anyone who asked about his party affiliation that he was an INDEPENDENT [hush- republican].

"Be sure to say that INDEPENDENT thing loud," he instructed us.

He's just a sham, willing to do whatever he needs to get elected.

So, as historymike says, he's running as a closet Republican, which, from my experience, has been his real political party for 30 years!

You all are truly funny. Lets see, in this post we've talked about Tom Noe, We've managed to see a bush bash, we've brought up Cindy Sheehan, We've once again advertized Bob Frantz's blog --called Frantz Rantz! found at http://www.frantzrantz.typepad.com/ ...

Anything about what either contender's views are on anything? Have any of their own platforms been spoken of? NOPE!!

You democrats are just plain fun, you have two of your own running against one another, and your answer?? WE HATE REPUBLICANS!

Great way to run a campaign! Trash folks who arent even running! Did any of you carty haters even read the words "I don't support Carty" in the first response?

It is just so fun to get you all so fired up and watch you run around chasing your tails!

I'll say it again - Carty does NOT deserve to be the next mayor of this city, but because you Ford gang have apparantly got ZERO to say about your guy, and only mud to sling - well, I guess all you have is mud.

Ah - What do I care?? - Carty, Ford - either way, the city's screwed.

Well, Billy, in fact we are.

Perhaps Frank would start a topic that would allow us to post why we have chosen to support the Democratic/Republican/Libertarian party.

This would truly be 'fun.'

Frank-

So Carty bought Tom Noe a bagel. An interesting side-note, but of all the reasons not to vote for Carty it is nowhere near the top of the list. The stench of Tom Noe is not going to be enough to stop Carty (see Betty Schultz primary results) so get past it.

A frequent promotional item of the Ford campaign has been the CareNet program. This is an excellent program that we as a community can take pride in, but enough already. You're emphasizing poor people who are probably still going to be poor 6 months from now and a year from now. How about instead we start talking more about economic development that could make CareNet no longer necessary. And when I say economic development I don't want to hear about anything involving Chrysler/Jeep - old business under Carty or newer business under Jack. Handing Chrysler a blank check, however necessary it may have been, required no negotiating skill or expertise by anybody so stop patting yourselves on the back for it.

L_D,

Are you Frank's mom? The way you defend him, I would assume you are.

Ya know, fanatics on both sides are not what reality is in this country. And frankly, I'm tired of Left pitchin' a bitch when the right does something that the left did a few years back and defended it emphatically. Ya'all nothin' but a bunch of whiners who need something else to do with your obviously ample free time.
