Strickland Announces

ODP has the story, click here. I had it last week but was busy with local stuff.

Congressman from southeast Ohio, former minister, and has demonstrated electoral success in so-called "red" Ohio counties (he even has a very good rating from the NRA?!?). Ohio Democrats have reason for optimism for 2006. - I'm sure that will be reflected in the state dinner May 21st in Columbus.

On the other hand, Democrats in Lucas County have tough fights the next twelve months - but we must fight, win and beat Carty & the Kest gang if we are to contribute to taking back our state in 2006.

Strick would probably make a great Governor for Ohio and probably give the GOP a run for it's money. Why the surprise at his NRA rating? The man took an oath of office swearing to support and defend our constitution and he obviously lives by it. He isn't picking and choosing to defend only the rights he agrees with as do so many elected officials these days. He could come out a big winner with support from both sides of the isle.
The LCDP does have tough fights ahead. The toughest being putting aside the squabbling and focus less on who's right and more on whats right. Newflash! Kest is gone! He moved away. You risk sounding like Wade and his "Ray Kest political machine" hype. I think you're bigger than that. You could probably set an example for the A and B teams by rising above the crap.

Trouble is, Sepp, the Kest stuff is true. Carty is relying on Kest top aides and supporters. Other problem, Sepp - Wade won.

Yeah, Wade won but, his competition wasn't the toughest to beat. I doubt that Wade could have ever unseated Kest without the help of the blade and Ray Kest screwing up a great career via bad personal decisions. For all his personal life screw-ups, Ray did a wonderful job as treasurer. I don't doubt that Carty will tap a lot of old allies for support...who wouldn't? My point to you is that even though Wade won, you yourself could rise above his type of canned hype and come out as the better man in the end. I like your candor and even though your a democrat, I think you have potential to do some good things in this city.

Ted Strickland will be an excellent candidate for the Democrats. My parents, dedicated Republicans, voted for Strickland in 1996 against Frank Cremeans, whom they could not stomache.

At least, if the Democrats win a statewide election and can keep their statewide office holder(s) sober, Ohio will get a half-way decent governor.

I'm a Republican and I would vote for Strickland over Taft. However, I'd vote for any of the three Republican candidates over Strickland.

After seeing Taft in action (inaction)I would vote for Opal Covey over Taft. He is just another worthless politico riding on a once-good family name who has no real business being in charge of the honeycomb hide-out let alone our state.
